Education Series

The TV-addicted child.

Out with the old, in with the new.

The overprotective parent.

The stressed-out teacher.

A shared vision.

Filling one's capacity.

The ideal learner.

These are a few images from a series I created for a Powerpoint presentation about the nature of education in Hong Kong.

A bit of fun experimenting with Photoshop ...

This is my contribution to part of a series entitled, "Reclaim" that I worked on with several friends. We were inspired by the city of Hong Kong and utilized found fabrics stretched on board as our canvas.
I've posted a detail as the pencil work is a little hard to see!

Art Figures

Continuing with the handmade figures - Gotta love found-object-junk-art!

Comical Eyes, Sets 1 & 2

Sham Shui Po is seriously like, the best part of town ... There's so much old crumbly stuff to look at and random objects sold in multiples, for example, vintage stuffed animal eyes?! I tried to barter for a card full of them on display but the shop owner wasn't having it.

I started this series with "Commercial Button Noses" awhile back, after finding a set of those in a shop window - and I had to continue with the "Eyes" series just cause they're so cool ...

Hopefully I can continue this "mass production" series as there's tons of good junk / weird stuff that's calling to be painted... rolls of ribbons, poker chips, garage door openers, weird hardware store stuff..........

The fun begins...

More Funny Chinese

I really like the idea that as a non-Chinese speaker/reader/writer, the traditional written characters just look like great abstract patterns - a blur of color and shape to the eyes.
